At a recent joint (school/ children's home) Ofsted inspection at The Stubbs we were surprised to be informed by the HMI that our obligations under the safeguarding and safer recruitment regulations extended to obtaining from our placing authorities written confirmation that any and all employees, agency staff or others that they might send to meet or visit pupils at our schools had been fully vetted and checked in accordance with safeguarding and safer recruitment regulations and guidance.

We clarified that this included social workers, IRO's, Advocacy worker, educational psychologists, LAC nurses and any other individual who might have unsupervised access to pupils at our schools.

Accordingly we have contacted our existing placing authorities to request this confirmation and have amended our Individual Service Agreement to include this confirmation at the point of agreement of the terms of admission.
