Da Capo provides integrated therapeutic care, health and education placements to children who have complex special needs.
Children who come to Da Capo are given the opportunity to 'go back to the beginning and start over again' as often as they need.
We have a “no exclusions, no rejections” policy.
Rather than exclude or reject a child if they act out their distress, resentment and anger we will ‘start again’ – letting them repeat key experiences and lessons as often as is necessary for them to move on.
Every aspect of our practice is planned in order to ensure that we can contain challenging behaviour in a safe, caring and therapeutic manner.
Intensive and flexible staffing is provided within domestic scale (3 bedded) houses and in our own special needs school.
Therapeutic care staff and teachers work collaboratively to meet the child's whole needs in a programme tailored to each individual child.
Most of our pupils have Statements of special educational needs for behavioural, emotional and social difficulties. Most are looked after by local authorities. We have considerable experience of working with corporate parents and carers as well as parents and families.
Many will have previously received support from health services as aresult of attachment, developmental and mental health difficulties. Health service colleagues will recognise our approach as being consistent with their own Recovery models.
